The Roman Index of Forbidden Books

The Roman Index of Forbidden Books

This will be sent, free of charge, by email in Word Doc.x (Century 1 pt) when ordered in conjunction with any of the books in the Fatima Books section.

The Index of books which Catholics were forbidden to read without permission was properly established in 1559 and abolished in 1966.

This 38 page treatise, written i9n 1909 by an American Jesuit, gives solid, practical reasons for the existence of the Index in its time. Many a reader might balk at what could be seen as the ‘nannying’ of the Church, but Fr. Beeten’s unapologetic approach  conveys the image of a sensible parent locking the liquor cabinet when it is within the reach of the children.
